Today I met Gavin Kinsley in Old Market Square for an interview about his experience with the Market Wall. He did a one-day watching-brief commissioned by Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering Ltd. carried out for Trent & Peak Archaeological Unit in February 2005 during the redevelopment of the Old Market Square, Nottingham. Gavin is the only witness of the remains of the Market Wall; his watching brief and information were key for the development of this research project. The photos included in the watching brief gave the possibility not only to locate the archaeological findings on the current map of the Square, but also to identify the materials' size and construction' type of the artefact.
